Blogosphere Gender Identity

It is amusing to me that admissions consulting blogs such as ClearAdmit and Stacy Blackman always refer to me as "she" when they use gender-specific pronouns and that readers typically address me as "dude" or "man" in emails and comments. I have deliberately remained gender-neutral on this blog and will continue to do so to preserve anonymity, so keep on guessing!

Why is it important to stay anonymous on a blog like yours?

I thought you were female because some of your early posts were about your anxiety and obsession over b-school apps. I'm not sure why I would equate that with being female (I'm a woman and not overly stressed about b-school apps), but I did.

Plus, you connected with a smart, balanced woman in PE recently. That's how I describe successful women I meet with when I discover that they're not psycho. I don't know many men who would describe a woman leader they met for work as balanced.

My apologies if you're male!

I really think you are a girl :)

I'm going to guess girl as well: just based on the "Frenemy Advice" post.. Frenemy does not sound gender neutral!

I think the reason I want to stay anonymous is so that I can write more freely when I'm a student at the GSB. Also, I don't want this blog to be google-able under my name.

Your blog is quite gender neutral, however it leans towards you being a woman :-).

You can play with that link by checking out other blogs and the gender of their bloggers :-). Its at least correct when it comes to my blog.

Interesting that the gender analyzer believes that Marquis' blog is written by a woman. :)
